Gabi at 20 months!

It's been a while since our last, real Gabi update. Let's take a look at what she's doin' now:

As you can tell by the pictures she's a little crazy but so much fun. :) She is getting better at listening and speaking. As Tia Lainey says, her "receptive language" is very good. She is great at following directions and answering our questions (with a nod or a "no"). She says lots of words- on, off, done, ball "bah", water "wah wah", down, wall "wah", fall "fah", move "oof", noah "oh-ah". Too many to list really, but mommy's favorite is fih-fah (flip-flop). She loves her little, pink flip-flops.

She is sleeping sooo well. Usually 11.5 hrs at night (7:30 or 8ish to 7:00 or 8) and then she takes a 1.5 to 3 hr nap in the afternoon. Mommy can even get us both to nap at the same time some days!

Gabi loves her books. Goodnight Moon, Curious George and Snoozers are favorites right now.

She finally watches t.v.! Mommy never thought she would be pushing the television on her child under two, but what a relief that something entertains Gabi for more than 5 minutes! It is only Curious George that she wants to watch but mommy will take it.

No surprise that Gabi is still a great eater. She's not too crazy about meats, eggs or avocado still but most other things are a hit. She loves mommy's pizza and her favorite veggies lately are broccoli and zucchini dipped in ranch dressing. Funny how mommy thought she'd never give her children butter, cheese or dressing on their vegetables. That was before she had babies and realized ya gotta do what ya gotta do to get them to eat something healthy!

Gabi is climbing on EVERYTHING! The kitchen table, the toilets, the coffee table, the couches, chairs, toy box, and anything else dangerous. It would be a little less scary if she didn't dance as she is standing on these things or if she would stop at the first level, instead of trying to get to the highest point possible. She learns all this from watching me, of course. Mommy is waiting for Gabi to start jumping from these things now because she sees me doing that too. Aye!

She is still doing well on the toilet, better if she is just naked all day. Today is the first day in a LONG time that mommy has had to change a dirty diaper- like dirty, not just pee-pee. Usually she goes by herself if the diaper is off or she says "buh" and pulls at her diaper if it's on. Mommy is not pushing it at all so is impressed at how quickly Gabi caught on.

Another thing that takes up Gabi's time is clipping her booster seat buckle and her baby's stroller buckle together over and over. DO NOT try to help her with this though. We have found this out the hard way. :)

And of course, Gabi spends lots of time playing with me! We are great friends. We take care of each other when one of us gets hurt and defend the other when kids threaten to take toys away. But we're also the ones doing the hurting and the ones taking the toys from the other the rest of the time. Guess that's what brothers and sisters do.

What a fun read! I love all of those pictures. She is an absolute doll. I wish I could have her all to myself. pinchy pinchy squeeze squeeze. I'm afraid she and Maya would fight over who gets to click the booster seat though.
